The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) is about building a trusting relationship between nurse home visitors, who are registered nurses, and first-time mothers from vulnerable, low-income circumstances. NFP has three main goals:
Population Health goals
While NFP is improving maternal and child health one family at a time, the Health Authority believes the program will help it achieve the goal of lowering infant mortality in Detroit and Wayne County. NFP offers an opportunity not only to lower infant mortality and provide a healthy start in life for the child; it will raise the level of wellness among families who look to the safety net for support.
